1. Tell your kids you're going to get something exciting. Don't tell them anything else.
2. When you get to the store, let them pick out whatever box they want (within reason, Batman wanted one the size of a steamer trunk.....).
3. Laugh as the kids play with their little wooden cutouts on the way back.
4. Paint. Watch as they choose lots of different colors, and think to yourself, this is going to be very unique.
Nice simple, and when we went, the kids had a limit of how many shells they could take home. Only as many as fit in their treasure chest.
